Katy June-Friesen is Associate Director of Communications & Research for the Small Business Anti-Displacement Network. She is a writer, editor, and media producer with a background in communications and journalism. Katy has worked for nonprofits, higher ed institutions, and news outlets producing stories, editing publications, managing research projects, and writing for documentary and public history projects. Her journalism has appeared in national magazines and newspapers. She is a PhD candidate at University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism, where her research focuses on news coverage and public discourse surrounding gentrification.
